THE CHURCH OF THE HOLY SEPULCRE

Holy sepulcher

Jerusalem, the city of gold, the city of Zion, the city of David, so many names have been given to the city where all religions meet, and where the spirit is in every stone.

In this article, I’ll try to walk with you like a private tour guide and show you all the little details you need for your private knowledge.

 Luke 23 36 – 46

It was built by Constantine and his mother Helena.

From 326-335, the most important and largest church in the Byzantine Empire.

In 326, a local guide leads Helena and teaches her the place where the cross is located, Helena sanctifies the place and decides to build a church there.

In biblical times the place served as a quarry and was probably used to build the temple.

In the time of Jesus, the place became “Golgotha Hill” and more niches for burial were found there. Therefore, the possibility that the place became a Roman crucifixion site is quite possible.  The city also has a burial and crucifixion site)

 Above the same quarry

And on the same rock the emperor Adriano ordered a Roman forum with a temple to the goddess Aphrodite, to turn the whole place unpureed

The Byzantine Church of Constantine, is the Victory over the Antichrist Victory of the Spirit, and is also called the Martyr, was consecrated on September 17, 335 AD.  This is the new Jerusalem according to Mobius, the abbey of Abraham …. because here the binding takes place.

The original church was twice as large as the current one around the apse.

The church was burned by the Persians in 628 and renovated …. Afterwards it was conquered again by the Muslims but Omar al-Khatab made sure to honor the “people of  the book” and prayed near the church where the Omar Mosque was built.

But the Halifa Hakam Allah ordered it to be burned.

An earthquake that destroyed Israel at that time also toppled the church

And with a special permit issued by the Muslims it was renovated again by Monomachus.

After the conquest of Jerusalem by the Muslims led by Saladin in 1187, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher was given to guard by two families of Muslims, Nusseibeh and Judah and holds the key to the church, to this day.

The ladder belonged to Armenians who wanted to facilitate their access to the food baskets and to go out to the balcony.

The gate of the church is very similar to the gate of mercy-or the golden gate on the walls of Jerusalem.

At the entrance to the church to the right is the “Adam chappal”. Inside the chappel, we can see the base of rock of the Golgotha. The blood of Jesus flowed here over that rock

At the entrance to the church the Messianic stone

The believers believes in the diffusion of holiness, an actual energy that passes to them or the objects they put on it

Above it there are, lamps for each denomination, Coptic Armenians, Orthodox Catholics, Greek Orthodox, and one lamp with an egg symbolizing death and a living resurrection coming out of it alive.

You can see the amazing mosaic behind the stone that tells the story of the stone how the women take the body of Jesus and wrap it in the shrouds of John 19:40.

The rotunda is the tomb itself; it is amazing to know that the Muslims built the dome of the rock just like the circumference of the dome of the rotunda.

The columns around the rotunda belong to the different testimonies and are numbered.

Inside the tomb, was once part of the mother rock. Today at the entrance to the tomb we will pass through the angel chapel in the center a cracked stone that serves as evidence of the earthquake that happened when Jesus was crucified, the inner room is the burial chamber

Go down the stairs to where the cross was turned into a chapel, Helena’s chapel, the descent is to another floor down, this is a Catholic chapel, we will return again to the place that served as a quarry in the first temple period and probably also the second.
